OK, so I know this is a dangerous and touchy subject. We've been down this road before. But I do believe the whole "global warming" topic is relevant to the wildland fire community, given all the dire predictions we hear about future fire behavior.

I would like to offer a challenge to anyone who is interested in the science behind this controversy, to read "Climate: The Counter Consensus, a Paleoclimatologist Speaks" by Robert M. Carter. This book describes in some detail what is known about the idea of anthropogenic global warming, climate modelling and prediction, and many related topics.

AFTER you have read this book, I would love to hear some feedback, including your criticism of the SCIENCE behind this book and where, if anywhere, Carter is incorrect in his assesment of the current AGW debate.

Enjoy!
