    screensave "maps"

Fire burning SE of Oklahoma City, OK, between Norman and Slaughterhouse; large smoke signature to the east.
The fire near the highway to the ENE between Oklahoma City and Tulsa is "Luther". Large smoke footprint to the east there as well.
Don't know the larger fire NE of there with the small smoke signature, no OK fires are named on the modis map, just appear as hotspots.

The fire SSE of OK City is the Maguire Fire and it is East of Slaughterville.

I am only going off the maps locations and what seems to be in the articles. I'm originally from west TX but live in the far west now.

Oklahoma - It is confusing that there are a number of fires and no clear maps with names, like in Inciweb or on MODIS. Are there any 209s?

Texas used to be like this too with very little reliable info going out beyond local communities. Last year's firestorms helped get everyone on the same page for sharing and helping.

Not criticising, but it would be safer to know what there is and where it is for the public and for local firefighters and those outside of the area wanting help. Are they hooked in to ROSS or NIFC or any larger system?

Arff, if you know locations, or if someone with any access to 209s, has the initial lat-longs for any of these new fires, please post them or let me know? global relationships, cities, access, are all important for getting to the right place and not ending up in the middle of a fire or the wrong fire.

I'd be happy to try to make maps from google earth or wundermap with the labels on them.

This is what NIFC has in this morning's SIT Report:
    Southern Area (PL 1)
    New fires: 26
    New large fires: 1
    Uncontained large fires: 5

    * Spur, Oklahoma DOF. Two miles south of Geary, OK. Timber. Running and crowning. Numerous structures threatened. Evacuations in effect.

Hess Knob, Ozark & St. Francis NF. Twenty-three miles northwest of Russellville, AR. Hardwood litter. Active fire behavior.

Townley Road, Oklahoma DOF. Five miles northwest of Indiahoma, OK. Timber, brush and grass. No new information.

Bills Hill, Canaveral National Seashore. Two miles south of Oak Hill, FL. Brush. Smoldering.

Bluegill, Okmulgee Field Office, BIA. One mile east of Drumright, OK. Hardwood litter. No new information. Last report unless new information is received.

Ab. I can't get a copy and paste of the table to work, can you?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Thanks,

    Midland,
If you go to the IA thread the locations are posted for the Maguire Fire. But since the evac areas were given, the fire has already expanded North and East of the boundries.

The fire seems to be controlled by local resources. I have hear units from Norman, Noble, and a variety of volumnteer depts from four counties. The only mention of state resources has been the one National Guard Helo they are using and apparently 5 other Helos are working other fires.
