July 24, 2012

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS PRELIMINARY AND SUBJECT TO
CHANGE

Narrative:

On July 24th at approximately 0800, a division supervisor on the Ash Creek Fire rolled an ATV
while scouting the fire line. The firefighter was traveling up a dozer line when the ATV rolled
backward, flipping over the top of the operator. The mission was to check the progression of the
fire from the previous day when the accident occurred. Injuries included broken bones and
bruises.

Other firefighters on the division assisted with evaluating, treating and transporting the injured
firefighter to the local hospital. The firefighter spent one night in the hospital and was
transported back home upon release.

An Interagency FLA team is on scene and reviewing the circumstances of the accident with
intent of providing lessons learned for the greater wildland fire community.
