Per news story, 2 people missing and both have now been found deceased in their home.

347 home lost and still assessing damge so there may be more.

This fire in now the largest loss fire in Colorado history.

This has been a very bad month for Colorado as there have been 3 fatalities, over 600 homes lost and over 150,000 acres burned. It is only June............

Some good news is that there have been only a few minor injuries to over 3000 FF's working the fire lines.

    Stay safe Brothers and Sisters

    from theysaid, compliments of Linda:

Good article about the Tahoe NF Strike Team on the Waldo Canyon Fire that impinged on and burned homes in Colorado Springs; photos too:

James Prince and the 25 members of his Tahoe National Forest strike team rolled into Colorado Springs on June 26, just before 65-mph winds shot fire across the landscape. The team’s five engines staged at 30th Street and Garden of the Gods Road before they drove into the inferno that had fallen on Mountain Shadows. They doused...

Nice article. However after 37 years as an all risk firefighter in California I take exception to the following statement: People at the gas station waved and thanked them, something that is rare in California, the crew said. This is just not true from my experience. The citizens of California are just as appreciative of their firefighters work as any other location.

    Hi Hunter, my friend.

I think this was a relative statement by the crew. CNN showed that the townspeople organized in shifts to hold signs at every shift change. It was a huge effort, consistently produced with phone calls, and highly organized with the waving and thanks. This is different from any kind of thanks organization I have seen before. I don't think they meant thanks never happened anywhere else, just that this was very organized, a celebration of every shift! And very much appreciated!

It has been determined that the Waldo Canyon fire was human caused. Authorities are looking for tips or leads on more info.
