Still LAL 6 herein El Dorado county. We are coming up Hwy 50 and see moderate activity. Most of it is cloud-cloud but I did see ground strikes south of El Dorado Hills and out into the valley.

North Ops Daily Weather Discussion
Issued 1500 PDT Saturday August 4, 2012
For use August 4th after 3pm:
*** Dry Lightning Outbreak Underway ***
Thunderstorms developing on schedule this afternoon. Across the Sierra lightning has spread as far northward as southern El Dorado County. Across the Central Valley lightning has developed near Modesto and on the Coastal side, lightning has redeveloped near King City. All movement continues from southeast to northwest at around 25 mph. Currently this lightning activity is scattered...but it will expand in areal coverage this evening and tonight as thunderstorms continue pushing north and west, affecting most of Northern CA over the next 24 hours. At this point, all indications point to this being a very significant event...with several thousand strikes across Northern California before the activity shifts into Oregon by late Sunday. To compound matters...very dry air remains near the surface. As a result any rainfall amounts will be fairly light. And lastly, many stations are reporting near record dry fuels. The marine layer continues to keep the immediate coast below 2000 ft cool and moist. Another problem...after the lightning we quickly shift back to warm & dry conditions with increasing SW winds of 15-25 mph in many areas early next week.

Good morning. How did everyone fare last night? Any major precip with the light shows?

Re: CA - Fire Weather 2012
Looking at 24 hour rainfall on the gages...it does not look like a tremendous amount of precip fell in Northern/Central California. There are about 3-5 gages reporting between 0.15 and 0.35 inches...but every other gage reported 24 hours amounts less than 0.10 inches. So...it does not look like it was a great rain producer.
